National Energy Day is celebrated every year on 14 December to save this valuable resource.  It was initiated by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power, Coal and Non-Conventional Energy Sources in 1991 and has been celebrated annually ever since. The day aims to generate awareness among the masses in India about the importance of saving energy. 

The main purpose of celebrating this day is to conduct awareness campaign among people regarding national energy conservation and to spread important information about energy resources at the national level.

Energy is a natural resource available at the present time, so its conservation is very important because at present its use is increasing day by day but its conservation is very important because it is a limited resource.

History and Significance of Energy Conservation Day

The first Energy Conservation Act was passed in 2001 by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency

In the year 2001 itself, the first National Energy Conservation Day was celebrated on December 12 by the Government of India with the aim of making people aware about the conservation of energy.
